Swadhyaya

Surrounded by a rich plantation of indigenous trees and plants, this library is located on the campus of The Sacred Grove. The emphasis here is not on an academic exercise or amassing of information. Just as in Indian classical music, the one who is the channel for offering and the one who listens become one with it, at Swadhyaya, the words are meditations of one who shares and one who receives these.

Collection of literature from varied traditions, words of wisdom from ancient as well as from more recent times, sit side by side to meet inclinations of the readers to support Swadhyay - the self-study. So, one may choose to study the Vedic literature, Upanishads, Buddhist texts, Yoga related ancient and modern texts, or marvel at the personification of these in the publications of literature from Sri Ramakrishna Math or Sri Ramanashramam.

One could contemplate here on mysticism of the Sufis or share wisdom of Kabir, who while being established in the non-divisive truth, cared enough for his fellow beings to fearlessly warn them of the ills of divisive practices. Teachings of J Krishnamurti, that strived to break the conditionings of traditions and religions, find good representation in this space, along with poetry and prose steeped in Bhakti Rasa and Janana.

Sri M’s Teachings, while being rooted in the Parampara of Nath Panth, defy sectarianism, embracing the essence of all. His Teachings are shared in this Library, in the form of written word, audio-visual recordings and live streaming. The conducive ambiance of The Sacred Grove helps to contemplate and assimilate these.
