Plantation and Natural Farming

Around 7-8 acres of The Sacred Grove is demarcated as the agriculture land. Here we have planted a Mango grove, and other fruit trees like Bananas, Coconuts, Sapota, Custard Apple, Guava, Jamun, Cashewnut and Jackfruit; more recent additions are Mulberry, Gooseberry, Breadfruit, Avocado. We have also grown paddy, millets, and vegetables here.

A large area of more than two acres is dedicated to growing fodder for the cows, bulls and calves in the Goshala, which in turn fertilize the farms.

At The Sacred Grove, we are committed not to use any chemical fertilizers or pesticides. However, we do not have the comfort of being certified organic farms, because the neighbouring farmers continue to follow non-organic farming. Hopefully, one day they too would realize advantages of going organic. In the meanwhile, we continue to do natural farming using preparations like Jeevamrutam and Panchgavya, made primarily from cow urine, cow dung, Neem leaves etc.
